Federal benefits at 100% P&T
A 100% permanent-and-total rating opens Commissary/Exchange privileges, Chapter 35 (DEA) education for dependents, TRICARE health care for the veteran and family, and vocational rehabilitation (VR&E) for the veteran.
State property-tax relief
Many states fully exempt the primary residence of 100% P&T veterans (Florida, Texas, Michigan, Maryland, Hawaii, Iowa among others); others give partial relief. Because programs vary by state and county, confirm your state with the county assessor.
Why the total value is hard to state as one number
A hundred percent rating is a starting point rather than a single figure, because the payments and programs attached to it depend on the veteran, their dependents, their state, and whether the rating is permanent and total. Two veterans at the same percentage can receive materially different total support. Reading the component parts separately, and confirming each against the current year, is more accurate than looking for one headline number.
